A professional website without the overwhelm, the complexity, or the eye-watering price tag
Getting a professional website shouldn’t require a developer, a designer, a copywriter, and a second mortgage. But somehow it often ends up feeling that way.
Here’s the reality for most small businesses: web designers charge for design. Copywriters charge for copy. And you’re left in the middle, trying to brief two different people, chase two sets of deliverables, and somehow end up with a website that feels cohesive – while also running your actual business.
This service does it differently.
I offer simple website design using Payhip – a clever, modern platform that gives you everything a small business brochure website needs, without the ongoing monthly fees or hosting costs of WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix. And because I’m a copywriter and marketing strategist as well as your web designer, I handle the design AND the words. One person. One streamlined process. One finished website that looks great, sounds like you, and gives Google every reason to take notice.
No monthly platform fees. No hosting costs. Just your annual domain registration – usually around $20–$50 per year.
Is this the right website solution for you?
This service is ideal if you:
- Need a clean, professional online presence without complexity or ongoing costs.
- Want someone to handle both the design AND the copy – so you don’t have to write a single word.
- Are starting a new business and need to get online quickly and affordably.
- Have an outdated website that needs replacing but don’t want the expense of a full custom build.
- Want to sell products, courses, or digital downloads online without expensive e-commerce setup fees
It’s worth having a conversation first if you’re envisioning something highly customised or complex – Payhip offers a focused set of layout options rather than infinite flexibility. For most small business websites, that’s actually a feature rather than a limitation. But I’d rather be upfront than have you disappointed.
I can create a simple but attractive website for you using Payhip. This is a website platform suitable for brochure websites, as well as for selling digital products, physical products, courses, and memberships.
Payhip has an interesting payment structure, in that it’s absolutely free to build a website and host it with them. You only pay them a fee if you make an online sale. So if you just need a brochure website that doesn’t sell anything, there are no charges, other than your annual domain registration fee. It’s great for simple website design.
See it in action
I’ve built several websites in Payhip – here’s what’s possible:
- Home Sketch Home: a house portrait artist with an online store for commissions.
- Cornelia Reiki + Wellness: a wellness practitioner with a blog and online bookings.
- Cows Of Rage: digital downloads of greetings cards and flashcards.

Here’s my honest take on Payhip:
It’s a genuinely clever platform for small businesses who need a professional online presence without the complexity – or the ongoing costs – of WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace. The builder is straightforward and quick to get up and running, and it covers everything most small businesses actually need:
- A clean, mobile-responsive design that looks great on any device.
- Full customisation with your logo, colours, and fonts.
- Contact forms, a blog, and all the essentials – built in.
- Solid SEO foundations to help Google find you.
- YouTube video embedding that works seamlessly.
- A built-in online shop with Stripe and PayPal integration – ideal if you want to sell products, courses, or digital downloads
The one thing I’ll be upfront about: Payhip offers a focused set of layout options rather than infinite flexibility. For most small business brochure websites, that’s actually a feature rather than a limitation – it keeps things clean, fast, and easy to maintain. But if you’re envisioning something highly customised or complex, it’s worth having a conversation first to make sure it’s the right fit.
What makes this different from just hiring a web designer?
Most web designers will build you a beautiful website – and then ask you to provide the content. Which means you’re staring at a blank document trying to remember everything that makes your business worth choosing, while also trying to sound professional, get the keywords right, and not accidentally bore your ideal clients into clicking away.
That’s where most DIY and designer-built websites fall flat. The design is fine. The copy is generic, unfocused, and invisible to Google.
With this service, the copy is handled by a marketing strategist and copywriter with 30 years of experience – someone who knows how to write for your ideal clients, optimise for search, and make your website do the job it’s supposed to do.
A web designer alone typically charges $800–$1,500 for a single page. Add a copywriter on top of that and you’re looking at significantly more. This service gives you both – from one person, in one process, at a price that reflects that.
How it works
This is a full service website creation, where I create the website for you AND write the content, taking all the hassle away from you!
First page: $995 + GST*
The biggest investment is for the first page, as the scope of the work is broad and includes:
1. Briefing and consultancy meeting via Zoom
Allow at least 1.5 to 2 hours for the briefing meeting, as there’s a lot to cover:
- Website design: We’ll nail down your look and feel together – colour scheme, fonts, layout, photos, and overall vibe. It helps to come along with a few examples of websites you love (and ones you don’t) so we can pinpoint exactly what appeals to you.
- Website structure: We’ll map out which pages your site needs – and I’ll guide you on this, because the right structure makes a real difference to both user experience and Google rankings. We’ll also be practical about your budget. You don’t have to do everything at once – it often works beautifully to plan a Stage One and Stage Two, getting the essentials live first and building from there.
- Content briefing: I’ll ask you all the right questions about your business so I can write copy that genuinely sounds like you and speaks to your ideal clients. The questions are tailored to the pages we’ve agreed on.
2. Website design
Creating a simple website design based on your brief, and personalising it with your logo, colour scheme, photos, etc. Includes up to two rounds of revisions, if needed.
3. Writing SEO website copy
This is where most website projects fall apart – and where having a copywriter build your website is a genuine advantage.
I don’t just fill your pages with words. I write strategic, SEO-optimised copy that sounds like you, speaks directly to your ideal clients, and gives Google every reason to take notice. With 30 years of marketing expertise behind every sentence, your website content will do the job it’s supposed to do: turn the right visitors into enquiries.
For each page, I’ll research and identify a focus keyword – the term your ideal clients are actually searching for – and build your copy around it naturally, without the awkward keyword-stuffing that makes websites sound robotic.
I also optimise for AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), so your business gets found not just on Google but when potential clients ask AI tools like ChatGPT for recommendations too.

Up to two rounds of revisions are included, so we get it exactly right.
Subsequent pages: $375 + GST each*
Any extra pages for your website are charged at a flat rate per page.
The price includes:
- Writing the content, with basic keyword research for each page, and inserting the content into the website template you’ve chosen. To get this price for subsequent pages, we would need to discuss it at the original briefing meeting. So if you haven’t already briefed me on this content, we’d have another Zoom meeting at additional cost. The price is for up to 500 words per page – if you’d like longer web pages, this would be at additional cost.
- Creating the web page, and laying it out in a visually-attractive manner, using Payhip’s standard features.
- Adding photographs to the page. Please provide any photos you’d like to use on the website, otherwise I can provide stock photos.
The types of pages you might wish to add to your website are:
- Products/Services: I’d suggest having a separate page for each product or service, as this will help with your visibility on Google.
- Why choose us?
- About us
- Testimonials
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Contact Us
- Blog section with articles: I can help you with article writing; each article would be considered one page.
*About the pricing for simple website design
The pricing is for a basic brochure website with a contact form. It does not include the following – they are at an additional cost:
- Email newsletter software integration.
- Payment processor (Stripe/PayPal) integration.
- Online store/membership/course setup.
- Additional work, meetings, and briefings are charged at $125 + GST per hour.
You will also need to arrange and pay for your domain name – this is usually an annual fee. You will also need to arrange for your domain registrar to point their servers to your new website – I will provide instructions for you to pass on to them.
Prices are in New Zealand dollars.
Payment terms
A $695 + GST deposit secures your briefing meeting, and contributes towards the time I’ll spend designing and writing your website.
You’ll receive another invoice when the First Page is completed. And if your website consists of numerous additional pages, you may receive progress invoices. Payment terms are strictly 7 days.
The final balance will be invoiced upon completion of the work.
If you would like one-on-one training how to update and edit your website, that can be arranged at additional cost.
